In search of a new house

A few months ago we decided that our retirement home would be in West Virginia.  There we have found much fun, we have made new friends and foremost we would be the neighbors of the most loving family -the Mountain Man and his wife.  We had searched the internet for some properties and had made an appointment to meet the real estate agent.  We felt like those people on the TV show “The Property Brothers.”   We saw three properties a beautiful cabin in the mountain, a modern open floor concept home and a house which we named “the barn house.”   The ladder was very beautiful, had a pond with many ducks swimming in it and a barn with 3 beautiful horses.  I was ready for the tv cameras to come out and ask us which property would we be buying.

The realtor asked us if we wanted to see the barn which was located down by the pond.  Being an animal lover I immediately accepted. We strolled down the hill and he opened the gate.  We walked in and the horses that were on the top of the hill began to run towards us.  I think the horses associated anyone coming into the stable with feeding time.  I, on the other hand associated the horses running towards me with an incident I had during my teenage years when a horse lifted his rear leg and hit me with all of his force. I thought to myself I do not know this horses and they may not be friendly!! My brain told me to run … but where?  I was inside of the pan and I saw no other option but to climb the wooden fence to get away from their path.  It wasn’t really a fence but a divider that went perhaps twelve feet into the area. But my brain saw a fence, a safe place between me and the horses.  The funniest part of all was that all I had to do was to run a few steps and go around the divider without having to climb over it.  Of course this was a very funny spectacle for those watching the event on the hill top. The horses ended up being the friendliest animals only interested in what we could give them …. food!  But this experience only taught us that doesn’t matter what task you need to  do, like purchasing a home, there is always fun around the corner!
